West Texas attorny found guilty of retaliation
An attorney in West Texas was found guilty of retaliation after two nurses were fired for making an anonymous complaint to the state medical board about a doctor.
The attorney was immediately removed from representing the county with the guilty conviction and he faces up to 10 years in prison. The incident began when two nurses complained that a doctor was attempting to use hospital supplies for at-home procedures and using herbal remedies.
Once the doctor found out who complained about him, he went to the county sheriff’s office and he investigated the two nurses before they were fired and charged with two felonies.
The two nurses sued the county claiming that their First Amendment rights were violated. Both the doctor and the sheriff have been convicted of two counts of retaliation.
