Discrimination lawsuit filed against the Texas Dept. of Family Services
A race and gender discrimination lawsuit has been filed against the the Texas Department of Family Services by the U.S. Department of Justice after an employee claimed that he was harassed and wrongfully terminated against.
According to the lawsuit, the man was the only black employee at the El Paso division of Child Protective Services and two of his supervisors continually said comments to him that were of a racist nature. The lawsuit claims that the two supervisors made comments to the man that were “slave-related.”
They also allegedly ignored comments that he was being sexually harassed at work before he was fired in 2007. He then filed a complaint seeking compensatory damages.
